My Story
Integrating animals into a child’s mindfulness practice can have many benefits. Animals live in the present moment so provide an effective model for children to follow. The “heartful connection” that animals create can help children not only develop their focus but also important empathy and compassion skills. In this program, children interact with animals online and their own pets (if available) at home to deepen their awareness skills. Mindfulness activities that include yoga, mindful movement, sensory awareness, brain basics and relaxation techniques weave the theme of animals into the learning. Children will also learn about Canada’s most endangered animals through the “Marvin the Mindful Marmot” series of books.
